VIP is one of the most oversold words in this industry, and it is worth stripping back to what it actually describes. It is not a better car or a smarter chauffeur. It is a different quantity of advance work: a written arrival plan, agreed holding positions, a second route and a heightened discipline about who is told anything at all.

That work is genuinely valuable when an arrival is exposed, photographed, timed to the minute or of interest to somebody else. It is entirely wasted when it is not. This page is a way of telling which of those describes your journey, and it ends with the bookings we would suggest when the answer turns out to be the second one.

What the label actually buys

Strip away the marketing and the difference is preparation. On an ordinary private booking a chauffeur checks the route, the entrance and the parking. On this kind of booking somebody establishes the walking distance from kerb to door, agrees where the car holds out of sight, writes a second plan for a blocked entrance and confirms who may be told that a booking exists at all.

None of that shows. The car may well be identical to the one on a Tuesday morning school run. What you are arranging is a lower probability of an awkward moment at a door, which is a real product but a narrow one, and it only matters where an awkward moment would genuinely cost you something.

Signs your journey qualifies

There are a handful of reliable signals, and one of them is usually enough. If none applies to your journey, the honest position is that a well-planned private booking will serve you just as well and will be considerably simpler to arrange.

Two or more of these and there is really no argument. One of them and it is worth a conversation, because sometimes the answer is a single extra piece of planning rather than a different category of booking altogether. We would rather add the holding position than the label.

  • The arrival is public: cameras, a crowd, a carpet or a published start time
  • The passenger is recognisable, or their movements are of interest to others
  • A third party is coordinating: a security team, an office or a tour manager
  • The schedule is unforgiving and an exposed wait at a door is unacceptable
  • A confidentiality requirement exists in writing rather than as a preference
  • The venue operates an accreditation or vehicle pass procedure to satisfy

Where the label is being oversold

The word is used loosely and a little scepticism is healthy. A dinner reservation at a well-known restaurant does not require this; it requires a car that arrives when it said it would. A first-class flight does not change the shape of an airport transfer. A significant birthday calls for a beautiful car, not for a written arrival plan and a second waiting position.

Where this matters is that planning is only useful when there is something to plan around. If the arrival is at a private house, an ordinary office or a quiet hotel entrance at eleven in the morning, all the reconnaissance in the world adds nothing to the evening. The attention is better spent on the car and the timing.

There is also a version of this that works directly against you. A conspicuous car at a discreet arrival is the wrong choice, and it is the mistake people make when they equate the service with visible luxury. If the objective is that nobody notices, the correct vehicle is the least interesting one available.

The security question, answered honestly

The most common misunderstanding is that this kind of booking includes an element of protection. It does not. Our chauffeurs are professional drivers, vetted and experienced with sensitive schedules, and they are not security operatives. They will not screen a route for threats, manage a crowd or intervene in a confrontation, because they are not trained to and it would be irresponsible to imply otherwise.

If your own assessment is that protection is genuinely needed, appoint a specialist firm and we will work to their brief. That arrangement is common and works well: they set the routes and the holding positions, we drive to them. What you should not do is book a chauffeur and quietly hope the role expands to fill the gap on the night.

When to book something else

Most journeys described to us as VIP requests are better, and usually more cheaply, served by a standard booking with a little extra planning attached. The right choice depends less on who is travelling than on what the day is organised around.

Tell us what the arrival looks like rather than who is in the car, and we can normally settle this in one exchange on WhatsApp or by email. If the answer is that an ordinary private booking covers it, that is what you will be quoted, and the arrival will still be planned properly.

  • A special occasion where the car is the point: a private chauffeur in a prestige vehicle
  • A working day of meetings and calls: an executive chauffeur booking
  • A flight in or out with a name board in arrivals: an airport chauffeur transfer
  • A wedding or ceremony with several vehicles: an event chauffeur arrangement
  • A jet movement with apron access requirements: a private aviation chauffeur
  • A day of unpredictable stops around a city: a chauffeur by the hour
  • Anything needing close protection: a specialist firm, with us driving to their brief

In Short

Key Points

  1. 01VIP describes advance planning, not a better car or a different chauffeur
  2. 02Cameras, recognition or a coordinating third party each justify the booking
  3. 03A conspicuous car is the wrong choice when the aim is going unnoticed
  4. 04Chauffeurs do not provide protection; appoint a specialist firm if you need it
  5. 05Most journeys called VIP are served better by a well-planned private booking

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Choose Luxury Chauffeurs

  • 01

    Held, not hailed

The car is reserved against your name for the whole booking. Nothing is pooled, nothing is reallocated, and no algorithm decides who arrives at your door.

  • 02

    Priced in writing

Distance, duration, vehicle and timing are worked out before you commit, then confirmed in writing, so the figure you agree is the figure for the journey.

  • 03

    London and beyond

A short run across Mayfair and an unhurried drive to the Highlands are arranged with the same care, by the same people, under one booking.

  • 04

    Discretion as habit

Unbranded vehicles, chauffeurs who speak only when spoken to, and a rear compartment where a confidential call needs no lowering of the voice.

From an executive saloon to a Rolls-Royce. Model, colour and specification are subject to availability and booking confirmation.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Business Travel Across Britain

Corporate chauffeur work runs to a diary rather than a postcode. Meetings overrun, a signing drags past six, and the airport leg still has to make check-in. Because the vehicle is committed to your booking, a revised plan costs a message rather than a fresh price. Accounts can be arranged so individual travellers never handle payment, and the paperwork is kept plain enough for a finance team to reconcile without chasing anybody.

The rear compartment is treated as a working space. Cabins are quiet enough for a confidential call, papers can stay open on the seat between stops, and chauffeurs understand that what is overheard is not repeated. Roadshows, board visits and conference movements involving several cars are coordinated centrally, so one person holds the schedule and one thread carries every change to it.

Before You Send

What to Tell Us

None of it is compulsory. The more you include, the sooner we can reply with a firm written price rather than a question.

  1. 01

    Where and when

Pickup and destination addresses, the date, and the time you need to arrive rather than leave.

  2. 02

    Who is travelling

Passenger numbers, large cases and cabin bags, and the ages of any children so we fit the right seats.

  3. 03

    The shape of the day

One journey, a return, or a car held for several hours. Say if the timings might move.

  4. 04

    Flight or event details

A flight number lets us plan around the published schedule; an event name tells us which gate and which traffic plan.

  5. 05

    Vehicle preference

A category is enough — or ask us to recommend one for the party and the distance.

  6. 06

    Anything else

Accessibility requirements, a preferred route, a stop on the way, or a quiet car with no conversation.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
