Why by road

On paper the train usually wins a long journey. In practice the comparison is rarely like for like: the train measures station to station, and almost nobody actually travels station to station. Add the journey to the terminus, the wait, the walk down the platform with luggage, and the taxi at the other end, and a four-hour drive that begins at your front door frequently arrives first.

It also arrives differently. You have had four uninterrupted hours in a quiet car with a table, power and nobody sitting beside you. You can take a confidential call. You can sleep. You can stop for twenty minutes somewhere pleasant because there is no connection to make.

We quote long-distance work as a single door-to-door movement, including the return leg and any waiting in between. Where a return the same day would make the schedule uncomfortable we will say so and suggest the version that actually works — occasionally that means an overnight, and occasionally it means not booking us at all.

The routes below are the ones we are asked for most often. Any other combination of two addresses in the United Kingdom is quoted the same way.

Door to door, no changes, and the same chauffeur waiting when you are ready to come back.

Long Distance — Luxury Chauffeurs

Destinations

Where These Journeys End

Every destination is quoted the same way, whether it is a city centre address or a house at the end of a lane.

An Honest Comparison

Chauffeur, Train or Driving Yourself

Each wins in different circumstances. Here is when we would and would not recommend a private chauffeur.

A private chauffeur

Best when you are travelling door to door, carrying luggage, working en route, travelling as a group, or ending somewhere a station cannot reach. The whole journey is one movement at one agreed price.

The train

Often faster between two city centres at peak times, and hard to beat for a single traveller with a bag going somewhere with a good station. We will say so when it is the better option.

Driving yourself

Cheapest on paper. The real cost is the four hours of your attention, the parking at the far end, and not being able to work, rest or have a drink at dinner.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Choose Luxury Chauffeurs

  • 01

    One seat throughout

The same car, the same chauffeur and the same conversation from your front door to the address at the other end, with nothing to catch.

  • 02

    Priced as a whole

Outward leg, waiting and return are quoted together as one journey, including tolls and crossings, so the figure covers the movement rather than a part of it.

  • 03

    Breaks on request

Stop where you like and for as long as you like. There is no connection to make, which is most of the point of travelling this way.

  • 04

    Planned for the hour

Departure time changes a long drive more than the route does, and we quote timings that reflect the motorway you will actually meet.

Choosing Well

How Long Journeys Are Quoted

Intercity work is priced as a single door-to-door movement rather than by distance alone. A one-way journey still involves the car returning, so a same-day return is often better value than two one-way bookings and is always simpler to run. Waiting at the far end is agreed in advance, tolls and crossings sit inside the figure, and where an overnight makes better sense we will suggest it rather than sell the harder day.

Driving hours are regulated for good reason, and they shape long itineraries more than most people realise. On very long routes, or where a schedule involves an early start and a late return, we may plan a second chauffeur so that nobody is driving tired. That decision is made in advance and explained when we quote, never discovered on the day or halfway up a motorway.

Comfort is the whole argument for going by road, so the vehicle matters more here than anywhere else. Over several hours the seat, the insulation and the rear space stop being luxuries and become the difference between arriving ready and arriving flat. Give us both postcodes, the arrival window, the passenger count and the luggage, and a written quotation follows on WhatsApp or by email.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Intercity Business Travel

A long drive is uninterrupted working time in a way that almost no other travel is. No boarding, no connection, no stranger at the next table. Calls can be taken privately, documents stay open, and the person you are travelling with is the person you are working with. For a team, the car becomes the meeting that would otherwise have happened badly on a platform.

Site visits, regional board meetings and client days across two cities are the ordinary shape of this work. Because the vehicle stays with you, an overrunning meeting simply moves the rest of the schedule rather than forfeiting a ticket. Accounts can be arranged for companies running regular routes, and a recurring journey can usually hold the same chauffeur each time it comes round.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us

  • Intercity executives

Directors with a morning in one city and an afternoon in another, who need the hours between to be usable rather than merely survived.

  • Reluctant flyers

Travellers who would far rather take a comfortable day by road than a short flight bracketed by two airports and a long wait.

  • Relocating households

Families moving between cities, or delivering a student to a university with rather more possessions than a train will politely accept.

  • Travelling with more

Owners with dogs, instruments or valuables that cannot go in a hold or a luggage rack, where a private car settles the whole question.

Events & Occasions

Family and Personal Journeys

The journeys people remember are rarely the business ones. Taking a child to university, bringing an elderly relative to a family gathering, travelling to a wedding at the other end of the country: all of them are far kinder as one continuous drive with the luggage in the boot and nobody watching a departure board. Comfort stops happen when they are needed, not when a timetable allows.

Longer leisure routes work the same way. A house in Cornwall, a lodge in the Highlands, a hotel in the Lakes: the drive stops being the price of the holiday and becomes the first afternoon of it, particularly if there is a detour worth making on the way. Tell us what you would like to see en route and it goes into the plan.

Timing & Availability

Departure Hours and Weather

The hour you leave decides the journey. Setting off before the motorway network wakes up can save a great deal, and leaving a city at half past four can cost the same amount again. We quote against the road you will genuinely meet rather than an optimistic average, and where a proposed departure makes the arrival uncertain we will suggest a better one.

Winter adds its own arithmetic. Snow on high routes, fog in the low ground and short daylight all lengthen a drive, and northern journeys feel that most. Bank holidays, the days before Christmas and summer Friday afternoons are the busiest of the year in both traffic and availability, so a fixed date is worth committing early. Midweek, most routes can be arranged at short notice.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
