Privacy is the whole point. Nobody else is in the vehicle, nothing is pooled, and the rear compartment stays a closed space for the length of the booking. Calls can be taken without lowering your voice, documents can stay open on the seat between stops, and children can fall asleep without anyone being asked to move along. Rear privacy glass is standard on the cars we recommend for this.
The practical difference shows up between appointments. Coats, shopping and laptop bags stay in the car rather than being carried from place to place. If a meeting overruns by forty minutes your chauffeur simply waits, and the remaining stops shift with you. There is no rebooking, no explaining the plan again, and no watching a map to see whether anyone is coming.
Discretion extends to the chauffeur himself. He is dressed plainly, the car carries no livery or advertising of any kind, and he does not discuss where he has been or who he has carried. Getting a private booking right
A private chauffeur is booked in advance and assigned to you; nothing here is hailed, hired at a rank or allocated by an algorithm in the minute before it arrives. That distinction matters practically, not just in tone. It means the vehicle, the chauffeur and the plan are all known to you before the day, and it means the arrangement can be changed by conversation rather than by cancelling and starting again.
The one thing worth understanding is where a car can legally sit. Large parts of central London have red routes, resident bays and loading restrictions that make waiting directly outside a door impossible. Your chauffeur will hold nearby in a lawful position and come forward when you message, which takes a few minutes rather than none. If you need the car literally at the step, for mobility reasons or in heavy rain, tell us and we will plan the stop around it.
How you structure the booking changes what you pay for. Three hours reserved for an evening is priced as three hours; four separate transfers across the same evening are priced four times over and give you less freedom. Where a private chauffeur service runs regularly, tell us who besides you may amend a booking, whether a partner, an assistant or a family member, and we will note them, so a change of plan does not have to route through one person's phone.

Not every working journey belongs in a corporate booking system. Founders, partners, consultants and family offices frequently want a private chauffeur on personal terms: no cost centre, no travel policy, no colleague able to see the itinerary. We can bill an individual or a company as you prefer, and we do not need to know which meetings are which in order to plan the day around them.
Sensitive negotiations, board matters and anything not yet public are ordinary conditions of this work. Evenings are the pressure point. A private chauffeur for a Tuesday afternoon can often be arranged the same morning; the same request for a Friday or Saturday evening in December wants a fortnight, because everyone in the city is going out at once. Weekday daytime bookings are the easiest to place at short notice, and the ones most likely to give you a choice of vehicle.
If your travel repeats, say so early and we will hold the pattern rather than treat each week as a new enquiry. Standing dates can be released when you are away and picked up again on your return, with no minimum term attached. For anything built around a fixed hour, such as a flight, a ceremony or a first night, book as soon as the date exists and refine the pickup time nearer the day.
