Junction 5 of the M1 and junctions 19 and 20 of the M25 give Watford unusually good access, but the connections between them are the difficulty. The A41 Watford Bypass carries heavy commuter traffic morning and evening, and the ring road around the town centre queues at the Dome roundabout and at the Junction approach. The M25 between junctions 19 and 21 is one of the more congested stretches, particularly westbound before nine and eastbound after four.
