The Festival takes over Prestbury Park for four days each March, building from the roar that greets the first race on the opening day to the Gold Cup at the end of the week. Racing begins in the early afternoon and runs into the late afternoon, but the day starts far earlier for most people and continues in the town long after the last horse has come back in. March on the edge of the Cotswolds is cold, often wet and frequently muddy.

Cheltenham itself does not cope well with the traffic. Approach roads fill from late morning, racecourse car parks close as they reach capacity, and the town centre becomes very slow indeed in the hour after racing ends. A chauffeur takes all of that away: you are dropped close to your entrance and collected from a road your driver has chosen rather than the one everybody else is queueing on.

Many clients base themselves in the Cotswolds, around Broadway, Stow, Painswick and the villages nearby, and travel in daily. That run takes anywhere from half an hour to well over an hour on Festival mornings depending on route and weather, so we set out earlier than the map suggests. Tickets, enclosure badges and hospitality are arranged through the racecourse or your host; as an independent chauffeur service we do not supply them.

Given March conditions, a Range Rover Autobiography is the most useful vehicle of the week: high enough for verges and field entrances, warm, and untroubled by a wet lane. Six people travelling together are best in a V-Class, with room for coats, boots and racing kit. For a couple staying at a country house hotel, an S-Class makes the evening return genuinely restful.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for Cheltenham Festival Chauffeur

  • 01

    March, properly equipped

Wet verges, mud underfoot and a wind straight off the escarpment. The vehicle is chosen for the week the weather is actually having, not for a photograph.

  • 02

    Nobody drives home

Four days of racing and hospitality do not pair well with a set of car keys. Everyone in the party enjoys the week on identical terms.

  • 03

    A Cotswold base

Daily runs from Broadway, Stow, Cirencester or a house taken for the week, with the same chauffeur knowing the lanes properly by Wednesday morning.

  • 04

    Ahead of the crowd

We set off earlier than the map suggests and come back by a road chosen on the day, rather than joining everything else pointed at the town.

Local Knowledge

Four days beneath the hill

The course sits in a bowl below the Cotswold escarpment, and everything funnels toward it. Approach roads thicken from mid-morning, on-site parking closes progressively as it fills, and temporary traffic arrangements around the surrounding roads change the direction of travel on streets you may know well. The road we use is picked after your chauffeur has driven it that morning. Badges, enclosure admission and hospitality come from the racecourse or your host, never from an independent chauffeur company.

The shape of a Festival day is deceptive. Racing occupies the afternoon, but people arrive hours beforehand for lunch and the atmosphere, and the day continues in the town long after the final race has been run. That produces two distinct pressure points rather than one: a slow build through late morning, and a concentrated release in the hour after the last race when the course, the car parks and the town centre all empty into the same network.

March up here is its own argument for a chauffeur. It can be bright and still, or horizontal rain with mud to the ankles, and occasionally both across four days. Tweed, boots and layers are the sensible answer, hats have a habit of leaving, and wet coats need somewhere to go. Having a car nearby means dry footwear at the end, somewhere to leave the racing kit, and warmth waiting on a genuinely cold afternoon.

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

Corporate & Business

Hospitality and client weeks

A full week of entertaining involves more movements than most people anticipate. Guests rotate through the days, some staying locally and some travelling up each morning, and the schedule only holds if the vehicles do. We take the week as a single plan, with departure times agreed the evening before, so nobody is negotiating a pick-up over breakfast while trying to find their badge.

For corporate groups the return leg matters most. Guests who have been entertained properly should not be looking for a taxi in a town that has none free, and a chauffeur waiting on a chosen road removes that entirely. Accounts are settled centrally, vehicles are unbranded, and the same drivers cover the week so briefings do not have to be repeated each morning.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for Cheltenham Festival Chauffeur

  • Visitors from Ireland

Racegoers over for the week, landing at Birmingham or Bristol and needing the country between an airport and the hill covered without hiring anything.

  • Hospitality parties

Companies taking boxes and tables for several days, moving guests in and out on a schedule that has to hold for four consecutive mornings.

  • Owners and syndicates

People with a runner during the week, whose day is shaped by the parade ring and the weighing room rather than by the timetable of the bar.

  • Groups of friends

Long-standing parties who have taken the same cottage for years and treat the Festival as the fixed point of their entire calendar.

Events & Occasions

The week as a holiday

Plenty of clients treat this as a short break with racing attached. A country house hotel, long dinners, a lie-in on the quieter day and the Gold Cup at the end of it: the car turns that into one continuous arrangement rather than four separate problems. Detours to a village pub or a farm shop on the way back are simply part of the day when someone else is driving.

Milestone birthdays land in March more often than statistics ought to allow, and the Festival absorbs them beautifully. Parties travelling together across generations manage far better with a vehicle that carries everyone and everything, and the older members of a group are spared the walk from a distant field. Evening plans can be added as the week goes on rather than fixed in advance.

Timing & Availability

March dates, Cotswold beds

The Festival takes four days in March, with the exact dates set by the racecourse. Accommodation across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds is committed remarkably early, and chauffeur availability follows the same curve, since the same regional vehicles serve every hotel in the area for the same four mornings. Gold Cup day is the hardest to secure and the first to be requested.

The opening days are somewhat easier, particularly for a saloon rather than a people carrier. Between our own vehicles and vetted partner operators there is usually something suitable, though the exact car, colour and trim are confirmed at the point of booking. Send us your dates and where you are staying by WhatsApp or email, and we will tell you honestly what the week can support.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
