The Old Town climbs from Holyrood to the Castle through a tangle of closes and wynds, while the New Town lays out its Georgian terraces below with complete composure. Guests come for the festivals in August, for whisky, for golf on the East Lothian coast, and increasingly for a long weekend that involves nothing more strenuous than a good hotel and a quiet table booked somewhere warm. It is a city best taken at walking pace, once you have been delivered to the right end of it.

Waverley sits in a valley in the middle of everything, which makes it easy to reach and thoroughly awkward to leave with luggage. We meet trains and flights, then handle the parts of Edinburgh that defeat an app: the cobbled approach to Charlotte Square, the drop-off nearest the Castle Esplanade, the George Street hotels, and the entire city through August when the road closures move from one day to the next without warning.

Scotland opens up quickly from here. St Andrews is under two hours over the Forth, Gleneagles and the Perthshire glens a little less, and Loch Lomond sits west beyond Stirling. The Borders and Melrose lie south through gentle countryside, Glasgow is around an hour on the M8, and the road north towards the Highlands remains one of the finest days out we arrange anywhere in Britain.

Edinburgh Airport is roughly twenty to thirty minutes from the centre outside the rush, and your chauffeur waits inside the terminal. Driving from London is genuinely long — the A1 or the M6 for something like eight to nine hours, depending on where you stop — so most guests fly or take the train and have a car ready on arrival. We are perfectly happy to do the drive when the schedule makes sense of it.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for Edinburgh

  • 01

    Quoted, then fixed

Your Edinburgh quotation covers the vehicle, the hours and the access charges in one written figure, sent before you commit and unchanged unless you change the plan.

  • 02

    Chauffeurs based here

Chauffeurs who live in the city, know which Old Town approaches a car can actually use, and know which hotel doors face a street that turns pedestrian at certain hours.

  • 03

    One car, one day

Hold the car for a full day and the plan can change at eleven in the morning without anyone rebooking anything. Coats, cases and shopping stay on board.

  • 04

    Discreet arrivals

Unbranded saloons, chauffeurs briefed in advance, and no conversation about who is travelling. A private chauffeur in Edinburgh should be the least memorable part of the day.

At a Glance

Edinburgh

  • August without the gridlock

Festival road closures change daily; routes are checked each morning rather than assumed from last year.

  • Cobbles and closes

The Old Town has very few places a car can legitimately stop. We know which ones work.

  • Highlands from the door

Perthshire, St Andrews and Loch Lomond all sit within a comfortable day return from the city.

Local Knowledge

Arriving and moving in Edinburgh

The city bypass, the A720, is how most journeys avoid the centre, feeding the M8 west towards Glasgow, the M9 and M90 north over the Queensferry Crossing, and the A1 south along the coast. Inside that ring the geography does the rest: the Old Town sits on a ridge with almost no through routes, and the New Town grid is dense with residents' parking. A low emission scheme applies in the central area, and the relevant charge for your vehicle forms part of the quoted figure, confirmed with you before travel.

Waverley is reached by a single ramp from Market Street and a short approach off Waverley Bridge, both of which stall when several services arrive together, so we usually agree a point slightly away from the station. Haymarket is often easier for services from the west. Princes Street carries trams and buses along most of its length, which means the practical drop for a George Street hotel is around the corner rather than at the door.

The airport lies west off the A8 near the M8, typically twenty to thirty-five minutes from the centre although tram works and the morning peak both stretch that. Business travel often heads the same way, to Edinburgh Park, the Gyle and the offices at Gogarburn, which are simple by car and tedious otherwise. The drive from London is a genuine undertaking of eight hours or more, so most guests arrive by air or rail and take the car from the platform.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Business days in Edinburgh

Edinburgh's money sits in a small area, Charlotte Square, St Andrew Square and the streets between them, and the rest is spread west along the A8 to Edinburgh Park and the Gyle. That combination makes a day hire far more sensible than a series of separate journeys, because the walk between the two is impossible and the parking at neither end is worth attempting.

Parliament, the legal establishment and a substantial conference trade bring people here who are working to fixed times, and the rear cabin is quiet enough to take a call before you arrive. Where several colleagues travel together we coordinate the vehicles through one contact, and an account can be arranged so nobody produces a card at the end of a journey.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for Edinburgh

  • Festival visitors

Producers, performers and guests moving between venues in August, when a ten-minute journey can take three times as long and nobody wants to be running.

  • Golf parties

Groups heading for the East Lothian links with clubs in the boot, a table booked afterwards, and no question at all of who drives back.

  • Whisky and Highland travellers

Guests building a few days around distilleries, glens and long lunches, who would far rather look out of the window than at a map.

  • Corporate visitors

Finance, legal and government visitors working between Charlotte Square, the Gyle and Holyrood, often with three appointments and one very tight train home.

Events & Occasions

Festivals, golf and celebrations

August is a season of its own, with venues scattered from the Meadows to Leith and performances overlapping by minutes. Outside it the city fills again for Hogmanay, for rugby weekends at Murrayfield, and for the Christmas market in Princes Street Gardens. In each case the useful thing is not speed but certainty: a known collection point, a chauffeur who is already there, and a car you are not sharing.

Weddings tend to involve a castle, a country house or a walk over cobbles in shoes that were not chosen for it, and often all three. We plan the order of arrival and the photographs around the light rather than the timetable. Golf days along the East Lothian coast, distillery visits and dinners in Leith all work on the same simple basis: the car waits, and nobody drives home.

Timing & Availability

The Edinburgh year

August is the month that books first and hardest, and requests arriving in July are frequently too late for the better vehicles. Hogmanay is similar over a shorter window. Rugby international weekends, the Royal Highland Show and graduation weeks all create their own local pressure, and in each case the road layout in the centre changes for a few days rather than a few hours.

Spring and early autumn are the pleasant secret, with long daylight, Highland roads at their best and far easier availability. Winter departures need honest margin, since the bypass and the routes north can be affected by weather with very little notice. Tell us the dates and we will say clearly whether the plan works, including when the answer is that it does not.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
