Private, in this context, is a technical word rather than a flattering one. It means the vehicle is held for your booking alone: not pooled, not shared with a stranger going in roughly the same direction, and not reassigned to a better fare halfway through the afternoon. Understanding what that exclusivity buys you in practice is the point of this page.

The differences show up in small, repeated moments rather than in a single dramatic one. Where your coat goes. Whether you have to explain the plan twice. What happens during the ninety minutes you are inside a building. We have set the day out in the order you will experience it, including the parts that involve your chauffeur doing nothing visible at all.

What exclusive use actually means

For the length of your booking the car does not carry anybody else and does not go anywhere you have not asked it to go. There is no system deciding that your chauffeur could usefully collect somebody nearby while you are in a meeting, and no possibility of the vehicle being swapped for whatever happens to be free. The car you see in the morning is the car you see at midnight.

That exclusivity is also what makes the rear compartment usable as a private space. Calls can be taken at normal volume. Papers can be left open on the seat between two appointments. A tired child can sleep across the bench without anybody being asked to move along. None of these are features of the car; they are consequences of nobody else having a claim on it.

Setting the booking up

Setting up is a conversation rather than a form. You tell us the shape of the booking, whether that is one evening, a full day or a week, and we come back in writing with the vehicle class, the timings and the terms that apply. The confirmation is where everything is settled, and until you have agreed it nothing is held for you.

The useful thing to include at this stage is the uncertainty. If you genuinely do not know whether dinner will finish at ten or at midnight, say so, and we will build the booking around the later possibility rather than the hopeful one. Private bookings absorb that kind of vagueness comfortably; it is much harder to add flexibility to something quoted as a precise transfer.

What to Expect from a Private Chauffeur — illustrating the guide

Waiting, and where the car goes

This is the part clients ask about most and worry about unnecessarily. While you are inside a building, your chauffeur finds a legal holding position nearby, which in central London often means a side street or a car park rather than the kerb outside your door. He is not sitting in a queue running an engine, and he is not so far away that you will be left standing on a pavement.

You message when you are ready and the car comes forward, usually within a few minutes. There is no need to give notice, guess your finish time or apologise for an overrun. If a wait is going to be long, a couple of hours or more, mention it in advance so that he can take his legal break sensibly rather than in fragments.

In practice most clients stop thinking about the car entirely after the first hour, which is the intended effect. The chauffeur manages his own time, his own parking and his own rest, and the only thing you ever need to do is say that you are on your way out.

Belongings, children and the cabin

The cabin becomes a base for the day, and most people use it more than they expected to. Anything you would rather not carry stays in the locked car and moves with you between stops, which is quietly one of the largest practical differences between this and any other way of getting around a city.

We would still ask you to keep passports, medication and anything irreplaceable with you. That is ordinary sensible practice rather than a comment on the arrangement, and it is the same advice we would give about a hotel room. Everything else can stay exactly where it is until the end of the booking.

  • Coats, umbrellas and shopping left in the boot between appointments
  • Laptops and papers left on the rear seat during a short meeting
  • Child seats fitted in advance when ages and weights are given at booking
  • Cabin temperature set before collection rather than adjusted afterwards
  • Still water in the doors, replaced between journeys rather than topped up
  • Charging connections for common devices kept in the rear compartment

How discretion is practised

Discretion in this work is a set of habits rather than a promise. The car carries no livery, no advertising and nothing that identifies a company. Your chauffeur dresses plainly, parks where he will not draw attention to an address, and does not stand at the door of a private house in a way that announces somebody is about to come out of it.

He also does not discuss his work: not where he went yesterday, not who was in the car, not what was said in it. Journeys are shared internally only with the chauffeur covering them. If you have a specific requirement, a non-disclosure arrangement or an instruction that the booking is never acknowledged to anyone, raise it at the enquiry stage and it will be handled before anything is confirmed.

Bookings that run over several days

Multi-day bookings work in much the same way, with two additions worth knowing about. The first is continuity: wherever driving hours allow, the same chauffeur covers the whole period, which is a large part of why the arrangement gets easier as it goes on. The second is that arrangements for the chauffeur away from home are agreed in advance rather than improvised on the second evening.

Where a week involves very early starts and late finishes on consecutive days, we will tell you at the quotation stage that one chauffeur cannot legally cover it, and propose a second. It is far better to hear that while you are still planning than to lose an evening to it, and it is the most common reason a multi-day itinerary needs reshaping.

  • Which nights the car is genuinely needed and which are free
  • The earliest start and the latest finish planned for each day
  • Whether a second chauffeur is required to keep the schedule legal
  • Where the vehicle can be parked securely overnight at each stop
  • Any single day where a different vehicle class would suit better

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Choose Luxury Chauffeurs

  • 01

    Held, not hailed

The car is reserved against your name for the whole booking. Nothing is pooled, nothing is reallocated, and no algorithm decides who arrives at your door.

  • 02

    Priced in writing

Distance, duration, vehicle and timing are worked out before you commit, then confirmed in writing, so the figure you agree is the figure for the journey.

  • 03

    London and beyond

A short run across Mayfair and an unhurried drive to the Highlands are arranged with the same care, by the same people, under one booking.

  • 04

    Discretion as habit

Unbranded vehicles, chauffeurs who speak only when spoken to, and a rear compartment where a confidential call needs no lowering of the voice.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Business Travel Across Britain

Corporate chauffeur work runs to a diary rather than a postcode. Meetings overrun, a signing drags past six, and the airport leg still has to make check-in. Because the vehicle is committed to your booking, a revised plan costs a message rather than a fresh price. Accounts can be arranged so individual travellers never handle payment, and the paperwork is kept plain enough for a finance team to reconcile without chasing anybody.

The rear compartment is treated as a working space. Cabins are quiet enough for a confidential call, papers can stay open on the seat between stops, and chauffeurs understand that what is overheard is not repeated. Roadshows, board visits and conference movements involving several cars are coordinated centrally, so one person holds the schedule and one thread carries every change to it.

Before You Send

What to Tell Us

None of it is compulsory. The more you include, the sooner we can reply with a firm written price rather than a question.

  1. 01

    Where and when

Pickup and destination addresses, the date, and the time you need to arrive rather than leave.

  2. 02

    Who is travelling

Passenger numbers, large cases and cabin bags, and the ages of any children so we fit the right seats.

  3. 03

    The shape of the day

One journey, a return, or a car held for several hours. Say if the timings might move.

  4. 04

    Flight or event details

A flight number lets us plan around the published schedule; an event name tells us which gate and which traffic plan.

  5. 05

    Vehicle preference

A category is enough — or ask us to recommend one for the party and the distance.

  6. 06

    Anything else

Accessibility requirements, a preferred route, a stop on the way, or a quiet car with no conversation.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
