Southampton Airport at Eastleigh is unusual among UK airports in being genuinely pleasant to use. The terminal is small, the distances inside it are measured in paces rather than corridors, and an arriving passenger can be outside the building remarkably quickly. For a chauffeur pickup that is close to the ideal set of conditions, and it changes what you should expect from the arrangement.

The other thing that shapes our work here is the water. A good proportion of the collections we make at this airport end at a cruise berth in the docks a short drive away, or begin at one on disembarkation morning. Those journeys have their own logic, and they are worth understanding before you book rather than working out on the day.

The shortest walk of any airport we serve

One terminal, one arrivals route, and very little distance between the aircraft and the outside world. Passengers come through reclaim and customs and emerge into a compact public area where a name board is visible immediately. There is no interchange, no bus, and no possibility of coming out of an unexpected door. It is the least stressful arrival building in our regular coverage.

The airport sits beside the railway at Eastleigh, minutes from junction 5 of the M27, which is what makes the approach so quick. For an arrival that means your chauffeur is parked and inside the building well before you need them. For anyone who has walked half a mile from a reclaim hall at a major hub with three cases, the contrast is immediately obvious.

Where the name board is held

In the public arrivals area, facing the doors, held by the chauffeur who will be driving you. Because the space is small, you will see it as you come through rather than having to search a crowded concourse. The cases are taken from you there and the walk to the car is brief. That is the whole of the meet and greet, and it is deliberately plain.

Ours is an independent operation. There is no arrangement with the airport, no affiliation with any airline, and no airside access of any kind. Nobody meets you at the aircraft, escorts you through the border or shortens a queue. What is offered is somebody already in the building, already parked, holding your name up when the doors open.

Southampton Airport Chauffeur Pickup: Where to Meet Your Driver — illustrating the guide

How long arrivals usually take here

Southampton is a small airport and it generally reflects that. Domestic and short-haul services with modest passenger loads tend to clear briskly, and travellers with cabin bags only are frequently outside within a very few minutes of the aircraft coming onto stand. It is not unusual for a guest to emerge before the estimate we planned around.

For a flight with checked luggage we would ordinarily allow somewhere in the region of fifteen to twenty-five minutes from the published landing time as a planning assumption, adjusting for the type of service. That is a working figure and no more. If two arrivals coincide or a single baggage handling crew is covering both, the reclaim can take longer than the size of the building suggests.

Either way the waiting sits with us. A sensible allowance is built into every arrivals booking, so nobody is watching a meter while you queue. If a delay runs well past what we planned for, a WhatsApp message keeps the arrangement intact and any extension is agreed with you rather than assumed.

Arriving to join a ship

Southampton operates several cruise terminals spread around the docks, and they are not interchangeable. A car arriving at the wrong one has a slow drive around the port to correct the mistake, which is the last thing anybody wants on embarkation day. We ask for the ship, the berth or terminal name and the boarding window at the time of booking, and we confirm it back to you in writing.

The drive from the airport to the docks is short in miles and occasionally slow in practice, since the port roads carry a great deal of freight and the surrounding network can be busy on a turnaround day. We plan the collection around your boarding window rather than around the flight alone, and we build in room for the port itself, which is a working dock and not a car park.

Kerbside collection, and when it suits

Because the terminal is so compact, kerbside works better here than at most airports. A traveller with a single bag who knows the building can reasonably step outside and be collected without a name board ever being involved. If that is your preference, say so at the point of booking and we will arrange it as a normal option rather than an exception.

Meet and greet still earns its place for anyone with real luggage, with children, or arriving somewhere unfamiliar. It also suits the ship connections, where being handed over from one arrangement to the next in an orderly way is worth more than saving a few minutes. The list below covers the cases where each tends to be the better answer.

  • Meet and greet: multiple cases, children, or an onward cruise connection
  • Meet and greet: a first visit, a late landing, or a long day already behind you
  • Kerbside: a single traveller with hand luggage who knows the building
  • Kerbside: a short domestic hop where you expect to be out very quickly
  • Either way, decide when you book rather than after you have landed

What to tell us before you fly

The details below shape how the collection is arranged, and every one of them is quicker to send in advance than to explain beside the car. Cruise passengers in particular should treat the ship information as essential rather than optional, because it changes the timing as much as the destination does.

Anything that changes afterwards can be sent by message. A rebooked flight, a different berth, a passenger joining late. The arrangement is reworked rather than patched, and it takes far less effort the day before than it does on the morning itself.

  • The flight number and scheduled arrival time
  • Passenger numbers, with children's ages if relevant
  • A counted total of cases and cabin bags
  • For cruise transfers: the ship, the terminal or berth, and the boarding window
  • Any child seat needed, with age and weight
  • The full onward address and postcode
  • A WhatsApp number reachable after landing

  2. 02Short-haul arrivals here often clear faster than at larger airports
  3. 03Southampton has several cruise terminals, so the berth must be confirmed
  4. 04Kerbside is a reasonable option here for light travellers who know the building
  5. 05The waiting allowance sits with us, and extensions are agreed rather than assumed

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Choose Luxury Chauffeurs

  • 01

    Held, not hailed

The car is reserved against your name for the whole booking. Nothing is pooled, nothing is reallocated, and no algorithm decides who arrives at your door.

  • 02

    Priced in writing

Distance, duration, vehicle and timing are worked out before you commit, then confirmed in writing, so the figure you agree is the figure for the journey.

  • 03

    London and beyond

A short run across Mayfair and an unhurried drive to the Highlands are arranged with the same care, by the same people, under one booking.

  • 04

    Discretion as habit

Unbranded vehicles, chauffeurs who speak only when spoken to, and a rear compartment where a confidential call needs no lowering of the voice.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Business Travel Across Britain

Corporate chauffeur work runs to a diary rather than a postcode. Meetings overrun, a signing drags past six, and the airport leg still has to make check-in. Because the vehicle is committed to your booking, a revised plan costs a message rather than a fresh price. Accounts can be arranged so individual travellers never handle payment, and the paperwork is kept plain enough for a finance team to reconcile without chasing anybody.

The rear compartment is treated as a working space. Cabins are quiet enough for a confidential call, papers can stay open on the seat between stops, and chauffeurs understand that what is overheard is not repeated. Roadshows, board visits and conference movements involving several cars are coordinated centrally, so one person holds the schedule and one thread carries every change to it.

Before You Send

What to Tell Us

None of it is compulsory. The more you include, the sooner we can reply with a firm written price rather than a question.

  1. 01

    Where and when

Pickup and destination addresses, the date, and the time you need to arrive rather than leave.

  2. 02

    Who is travelling

Passenger numbers, large cases and cabin bags, and the ages of any children so we fit the right seats.

  3. 03

    The shape of the day

One journey, a return, or a car held for several hours. Say if the timings might move.

  4. 04

    Flight or event details

A flight number lets us plan around the published schedule; an event name tells us which gate and which traffic plan.

  5. 05

    Vehicle preference

A category is enough — or ask us to recommend one for the party and the distance.

  6. 06

    Anything else

Accessibility requirements, a preferred route, a stop on the way, or a quiet car with no conversation.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
