Junction 23 is the local pressure point rather than the motorway itself. The roundabout takes traffic from the A512, the airport road and the town all in one place, and it congests through the late afternoon and whenever an incident on the M1 pushes vehicles through Shepshed. Junction 23A further north serves the airport directly and is often the better choice for a departure, so we pick between the two on the day rather than out of habit.
