Southbound on the A470 the morning peak from Pontypridd towards Cardiff is one of the busiest stretches of road in Wales, and it slows again northbound from the middle of the afternoon. Add an international at the Principality Stadium and the whole corridor tightens from late morning until long after the final whistle. In the valleys themselves the constraint is width rather than volume. Midweek travel in the shoulder months is the easiest thing in the world to arrange.
