London's fashion weeks land in February and September, and for those few days the city fills with shows, presentations, showroom appointments and dinners spread from Soho and Mayfair across to the East End. Nothing runs quite to time, everything overlaps, and the distance between two commitments twenty minutes apart on paper can be forty in reality. Editors, buyers, stylists and their teams spend the week in constant motion.
A chauffeur turns the car into the one fixed point in that week. Coats, a change of shoes, garment bags, look books and sample cases stay on board between appointments instead of being carried. Your driver holds nearby when a venue's street is closed to traffic and comes to the door the moment you are out. If a show starts late, the rest of the day is reshaped by message rather than by running.
Two practical notes. Build slack into the middle of the day rather than the ends, because that is where the schedule collapses. And give us the full list of addresses in advance, including the ones you may not use, so the routing is planned instead of improvised. The V-Class is the natural fashion week vehicle. It takes a small team, has room for rails and cases, and the conference seating makes a workable meeting room between venues. Moving across a fragmented week
The geography of the week is deceptive. A presentation off Regent Street, a showroom appointment in Shoreditch and a dinner in Marylebone look like three short hops until you attempt them between four and seven in the evening, when the centre thickens and the eastern approaches choke behind it. We plan the day as a sequence of holds rather than journeys, with your chauffeur parked legally within a few streets of each venue and at the door as you step out of it.
Waiting is where most of a fashion week booking actually happens, and loading deserves a thought of its own. Rails, garment carriers and hard sample cases want a flat floor and a tailgate rather than the lip of a saloon boot, and delicate pieces travel far better laid flat than swinging from a hook. A vehicle sized generously at the outset saves a great deal of rearranging on a wet pavement at six in the evening.
Evenings behave differently again. Dinners and after-parties run long, guest lists move, and a car arranged to finish at eleven is frequently still needed at one. An open-ended hourly arrangement is more comfortable than a fixed end time you will spend the whole evening watching. Where several members of a team finish at different hours, we would rather send a second vehicle than ask four people to leave together because the booking says so.

The evenings are where the week loosens. Parties carry on well past the last show, and the pleasure of them depends on not thinking about how you are getting back at two in the morning. The two London seasons fall in February and September and are published some months in advance, with the menswear and digital elements moving around the calendar from year to year. Demand for larger vehicles concentrates almost entirely into that handful of days, and it sits alongside the Milan and Paris weeks either side, so anyone travelling the full circuit is committing to a fortnight of movement rather than a long weekend.
Enquire as soon as the dates appear and firm up the running order later. Holding a chauffeur early costs you nothing, and the choice of specification narrows quickly as the week approaches. Short notice is often workable for a single evening and much less so for a full week with a large vehicle. Changes on the day are expected and handled by message rather than renegotiation.
