It carries the town, the business parks and the traffic for the whole northern Cotswolds, and the roundabout and the A422 approach queue badly on weekday mornings and on Friday afternoons. Southbound the M40 slows around Bicester and again through the Chilterns towards junction four, which is the part that decides a Heathrow timing. Northbound to Birmingham is usually the more reliable run, but the airport approach at junction six can add fifteen minutes without warning.
