The Castle dominates the skyline, Eton sits across the bridge, and the Great Park stretches south towards Ascot in a way that makes the whole area feel considerably more rural than the map suggests. Guests come for the racing, for polo in the Park, for school occasions that involve a great deal of standing about in good shoes, and for the view from the Long Walk on a clear afternoon.

Heathrow is minutes away, which makes Windsor one of the easiest places in England to arrive in well. We meet flights and drive straight in, then take care of the local awkwardness: the set-down nearest the Castle entrance, the hotels around the High Street and Sheet Street, the Eton College approach on a busy speech day, and Ascot race week when every road within three miles slows to walking pace.

Ascot is fifteen minutes south and the polo grounds sit inside the Great Park itself. Cliveden and the Thames at Maidenhead lie north, Henley is half an hour west, and Wentworth and the Surrey courses are close enough for a morning round and lunch afterwards. Families come for Legoland, which is five minutes away and considerably better approached before the queues form at the main gate.

Heathrow is typically twenty to thirty minutes depending on the terminal and the state of the M4. Gatwick is around an hour and a quarter. From central London the M4 usually takes an hour to an hour and a half, longer at either end of the working day, and the train from Paddington via Slough is a sensible alternative with a car waiting at Windsor.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for Windsor

  • 01

    The bridge question

Windsor Bridge takes people rather than cars, so reaching Eton by road means going round. It is the sort of detail that costs strangers twenty minutes and a temper.

  • 02

    Two stations, one town

Central sits beside the Castle and Riverside sits by the water, and they are served from different London termini. We meet the right one, at the right entrance.

  • 03

    Race week discipline

When Ascot is running, every approach for miles thickens from mid-morning. Departure times move earlier and collection points move outward, agreed with you the day before.

  • 04

    Park gates understood

The Great Park has several entrances and they are not interchangeable. Knowing which one your afternoon needs saves a long walk across wet grass in good shoes.

At a Glance

Windsor

  • Race week routes

Ascot week slows every approach for miles, so departures move earlier and collection points move further out.

  • Heathrow in minutes

One of the shortest airport runs in the country, which makes early departures unusually civilised.

  • Polo in the Park

The Great Park has its own rhythm and its own gates; knowing which to use saves a long walk.

Local Knowledge

Getting around Windsor and the Park

The standard run out from town is the M4 to Junction 6 and the dual carriageway in, usually an hour to an hour and a half and longer at either end of the working day. From the south west, the M3 and the A332 through the Great Park is the prettier alternative. Heathrow is close enough that the terminal, rather than the distance, decides the journey time.

In town, Thames Street is narrow, steep and busy, and the Castle entrance on Castle Hill allows a brief stop and no more than that. Changing the Guard mornings put a marching party through the middle of the town and close streets for a while, which reshapes the whole hour. Peascod Street is pedestrian. We use the High Street and River Street set-downs, then move the car towards Alexandra Gardens and come back when called.

The Great Park is the part visitors misjudge. It is far larger than it looks, the Long Walk carries no traffic at all, and the gates at Bishopsgate, Ranger's and the Savill side each serve a different corner. Racecourse days at Windsor add their own difficulty, as the course sits on an island in the Thames with one way on and one way off. Ascot is around fifteen minutes south on an ordinary day and considerably more in June.

Corporate & Business

Corporate visits and Heathrow

Windsor sits at the quiet end of the Heathrow corridor, which makes it a favourite base for teams flying in for two or three days. Hotel meeting rooms, a country house lunch and an evening back in town is a common pattern, and it works far better with one car held throughout than with three separate bookings made on the day.

The airport run is the shortest of any town in this bracket, so it is tempting to leave late; we would rather leave sensibly and have you sitting down early. For groups, several vehicles are coordinated under one contact, drawn from our own cars and from a vetted network of professional chauffeur operators when a party needs more than one.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for Windsor

  • Racegoers and hosts

Guests in morning dress with no wish to negotiate a car park, and hosts who need a party of eight to arrive together as one.

  • School families

Parents down for a speech day or a match, arriving into streets that fill early and offer almost nothing in the way of parking.

  • Heathrow arrivals

Travellers landing tired who want a short, quiet run to a hotel rather than another hour of motorway at the end of a long flight.

  • Polo and country days

Afternoons at Smith's Lawn or out towards Englefield Green, where the day ends later than planned and nobody has any wish to drive.

Events & Occasions

Racing, polo and school days

Royal Ascot in June is the fixture the whole area plans around. Enclosure timings, dress and the long walk from any car park all argue for being set down close and collected somewhere sensible rather than joining the queue out. Windsor's own Monday evening meetings through the summer are a gentler version of the same thing, and they finish in the dark.

Beyond the racing, the Horse Show in May, polo through the season and the Fourth of June each bring their own closures and their own crowds. Weddings run at the riverside houses along the Maidenhead road and out towards Bray, where guests need a way home afterwards. For families, an early Legoland arrival before the gate queues form is worth more than any shortcut.

Timing & Availability

Booking around the season

Mid-June is the tightest week of the year here and it is not close. Royal Ascot books out cars across the whole Thames Valley months ahead, and the same is true to a lesser degree of the Horse Show in May and the school occasions of early summer. Where your date is fixed and known, the earlier it reaches us the better.

Outside those weeks Windsor is comfortable, and a midweek airport run or an evening in town can often be arranged at short notice. December is busy with parties and the Castle lit for Christmas. Ask early for a June date and late for a February one, and the answer will be an honest account of the roads either way.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
